When Old Becomes Cool

It seems like our society revolves around the new; new cars, the latest computer or ipod, cell phone, etc.  I am not immune from this phenomena, but lately I have started to look back at the past wistfully.  Case in point, a recent purchase of mine.  Check it out.

Courtesy of eBay, I found this Royal Quiet De Luxe from the early 1940s for cheap.  It is such an amazing machine.  Almost seventy years old and it works like a charm.  Is it practical in today's society?  No.  Is it hella cool?  Yes it is.

Lately everywhere I turn, old stuff seems cooler than new; Mexican Coca Colas in glass bottles, vintage cars, black and white photos and images, Pan Am bags, and more.  Even stuff from the eighties and nineties (that is not truly old) is a crack up.  Jellies or a Pontiac Fiero anyone?  How about Thriller?

This is not some deep, insightful post, just a snapshot of what is in my head these days.  Hope you are all doing well.

Cuidate.
