Felicidades!

What a day, what a day! Our boy Ricky has made his way to the light. We always knew, but it is nice to have confirmation. Ricky Martin has always been my big crush. I remember I was working in Chicago back in the Livin’ La Vida Loca days and some of the girls at the restaurant I worked at were obsessed with him. They had an in at the Oprah show, so they had front row seats when Ricky came on the show and got to meet him after. I tried to warn them that he likely batted for my team, but they would hear nothing of it. So Melissa and Jenny Bartelli, wherever you are, I told ya so. He’s such a good-looking man… sigh.

So I am moved into my casita. I moved in the weekend after I signed papers and the move went pretty well. The movers were two hours late, but aren’t movers always late? They did a nice job and even managed to get my enormous hulk of a dining room table into the house with only a minor scratch. I have had to work a lot the past couple of weeks, so I am still unpacking and settling in. It is such a strange feeling to know that I will own this place free and clear one day. My life has changed so much in the past five years since I left the airlines and began anew. Buying a house was simply never on my radar screen; the Bay Area, never making any money, the responsibility, and on and on. I’m sure when my hot water heater explodes or my roof caves in, it will sink in that I own this place. But until then, it is fun looking at shades, furniture, patio materials and garden supplies. Once it comes time to pay for the stuff, not so fun. But there is plenty to do to make this place into my home. I am settling in nicely.

Fulfilling a promise I made to my parents a few years ago, I am taking them to New York City in a couple of weeks for a four-day visit. It should be fun; I have not been to Manhattan in a long time. We have tickets for Jersey Boys, which I am hoping my parents will like. I assume a Circle Line cruise and Canal Street will be a couple of the required stops and then the rest is open to what they want to do. I got them train tickets from their home in upstate New York, so they should enjoy a leisurely trip into the city and back. I bought tickets on Virgin America, so I am looking forward to being a revenue passenger and not worrying about standby. Kellie is coming with too, so it should be a good time all around.

Finally, I am heading to Seattle next week to start a tattoo that I have been wanting for a while now. When I got my Virgin of Guadalupe, I really liked it (and still do). However, I did not want to rush into getting more and more tattoos like a biker or an indie rocker. I would like to get a few tasteful ones that mean something to me. So I researched what I wanted and found an excellent artist who should do a nice job (if his portfolio is any indication!). I am going to have the first half done in one session, then go back in another month or so to finish it up. No hints, I want it to be a surprise when it’s done. I will post some photos in a month or two of the finished product. I think you all will like it.

So that’s a quick update from me. Hope you are all doing well and starting to see the murmurings of spring.

Cuidate.
